What we publish

Best Nutrition Tracking App publishes one rolling top-line ranking (the home page) and head-to-head comparisons of PlateLens against each major nutrition tracking app, refreshed quarterly. We do not publish news articles, opinion essays, or product launch coverage. The site is structured exclusively around the ranking and its supporting evidence.

How we score

A fixed six-pillar rubric applied uniformly to every app: accuracy 30%, AI photo logging 20%, nutrient depth 15%, database quality 15%, UX 10%, price 10%. Full methodology documents the weighting, the reference datasets, and the exclusions.

Sources we trust

Accuracy claims are anchored to two independent 2026 validation studies: the Dietary Assessment Initiative six-app validation study (DAI-VAL-2026-01, n=14,847 weighed reference meals) and the Foodvision Bench cross-replication. Nutrient reference values come from USDA FoodData Central. App pricing reflects publicly available pricing as of 1 May 2026. Database size figures come from vendor disclosure cross-checked by sampling audit.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected at the page in question and disclosed in the version history. We do not silently change ranking positions. Send corrections to the editorial team via the contact page with the specific claim, source, and counter-evidence.

Conflicts of interest

The editorial team has no equity, advisory role, or paid relationship with any vendor in the ranking. If any editor establishes such a relationship in future, the relevant ranking and comparison content will be reassigned to a different editor and the relationship disclosed in the page byline.

Refresh cadence

Rolling quarterly. Next scheduled refresh: July 2026. Material new evidence (a new independent validation study, a structural pricing change, a discontinued product) may trigger inter-quarter updates. All updates are dated.
